Dear Dharmafriends,
Buddhism is 2500 years old and Jôdo Shinshû is now preparing the celebration of the 750th anniversary of its founder,
Shinran Shônin. Compared to this time dimension our lifetime and the activities of our daily life are only an intermezzo.
On this website we want to introduce Jôdo Shinshû and, if possible, let feel the reader a little from
the fascination of Buddhism, which is the true reason, why people have transmitted Buddha's teachings for such a long time.
For this purpose no better symbol can be found than the lotos blossom (or at our picture: the searose). In Jôdo Shinshû the
lotos flower stands for the so-called Myôkônin, "the wonderful loveley people", who are the ideal of Jôdo Shinshû.
Like the lotos flower grows in a muddy pond, the Myôkônin have their roots only in this difficult daily life.
They are nothing special and they do nothing special, but in them something which is completely different to the environment comes to realization.
Our website is new, and therefore it certainly contains many imperfect things and many little mistakes.
If you have points to critisize or proposals for the improvement please send an e-mail to the following address.
With best Dharma greetings,
The Board
